We had a really nice hike today in West Boylston. We went 5 miles along a very nice and well-maintained old “rail trail”. The weather started out a bit cold, but by noon, the boys were taking off their jackets – especially to enjoy running up and down the “sand hill!”

Our December Pack Meeting was memorable for a couple of reasons:
First, it was the culmination of our 2010 Popcorn Campaign, with all the boys getting their rewards. In case you don’t know, our boys set a new Mohegan Council record this year with pack sales of $36,700! The #1 incentive for most of them was the “Marshmallow Shooter” award – this item was rewarded to boys who sold more than $600 in popcorn. We had 20 boys reach that level! And, in addition to those prizes, there were a few others that really got the boys excited, like retail gift cards from both the Pack and Council. All boys who filled complete sheets (30 customers) also earned free tickets to an upcoming Sharks game, with the chance to skate on the ice after the game, too! And if that wasn’t enough, our Den “Top Sellers” were all rewarded with Movie Passes and concession vouchers. The Pack “Top Seller” was rewarded with a backpack chock full of cool hiking and camping gear.
The second major item at our meeting was a visit by Brett “Ooch” Outchcunis, the Yomega yoyo guy! Ooch was a major hit for the boys, who really enjoyed his style and humor, not to mention the cool yoyo tricks! After he gave us a show, the boys had the opportunity to buy some early Christmas presents for themselves for some great prices.

As Bill Keeler talked about during our last Pack Meeting in November, we’re arranging a Scout “On-Ice” Sleep-over event after the Worcester Sharks game on February 5th, 2011. They’ll be playing the Providence Bruins at 7pm, and there will be a special appearance by some of the San Jose Sharks. The “Sleep-over” tickets include admission to the game itself, an autograph session with the players, a movie, a tour of the locker room, and breakfast after sleeping out on the arena ice! Scout tickets are $25.
Each scout MUST be accompanied by one parent. Family members are welcome to attend the game (tickets are $12), but the sleep-over is a scout-only event.
Also, please note that registration and payment for the event is due by the December 17th Pack Meeting. There will be no exceptions for late entry, since this event fills up fast. Please contact Bill Keeler with any questions.
