This past weekend was a very, very busy one for the cub scouts (and parents) of Pack 106!
The April pack meeting was (In relative terms) shorter than usual. The Wolf Den 2 humored the crowd with the “I gotta go WEE” skit. Little Luke W. was very anxious to run around and go WEEEE! Den leaders handed out the last of the den awards for this scouting year. We can’t believe it has gone by this fast either. The Pack was visited by Mr DerMugrditchian from the Friends of Scouting. Many have pledged to donate funds to this good cause to keep scouting moving forward for ours and future generations. Last but not least, each den wrapped one of their own in toilet paper to create (What I thought) was the cutest bunch of scary mummies!
There were a couple of Banner of Achievement winners as well we would like to mention: Dante O, Logan Y, Andrew R. and Cole A.
Now that the Spring weather has arrived a tad bit late for our Treasure Valley weekend, everyone still had a blast regardless! After tents were set up, supplies brought in and everyone arrived, the scouts made their annual bean bag socks for some fun games too see how far each of them could throw the bean bag…with the occasional aiming at Mr. Alderton.
The Pack also enjoyed a three mile hike (and lunch) through the trails of Treasure Valley including a portion of the Midstate Trail. It was beautiful! Perfect weather, beautiful views (A sighting of a Bald Eagle) and of course wonderful company.
The evening and night was full of the adults “relaxing” while the boys amused themselves by playing “Muddy Sock Grenade” & getting muddy themselves. They all acted wonderfully. Once Mr. Collins had the fire rolling, we enjoyed foil pocket dinners with hamburger, chicken, rice, noodles, cheese and more. Mmm! And once the boys enjoyed their fair share of S ‘Mores, jiffy pop was the final bedtime snack.
We also can’t forget the sing-a-alongs brought to us by the Tigers and Webelos scouts as well as scary stories by the campfire!
The night was frigid with temps in the low 30s. (or high 80s if you were in the cabin) We all survived the night and it was great to see all those sleepy smiles in the morning…especially when the bacon came around.
The end of the campout came with the Treasure Valley Marksman event that the Pack won buy selling so much popcorn! The boys got to learn and shoot BB guns and archery. As well as finish up the ceremonial Treasure Valley cake!
Special thanks goes out to Mr. Alderton for the coordination of a wonderful weekend as well as Mrs. Zariello , Mrs. Hanna, Mr Chiu and Mr. Collins for Kitchen duty and cleanup of the cabin! (and many of the boys volunteered to clean up as well!)
We are already looking forward to next year!
