The 2014 – 2015 Cub Scout year is well under way in Pack 106. So far we’ve had a pack meeting, Webelos Campout and a hike. We are off to a great start!
The pack meeting kicked off the year quite well with a ‘Welcome’ to the pack and upcoming activities presentation, leadership introductions and of course… The popcorn fundraiser! (which all of the information can be found on the popcorn 2014 page.) We were also visited by Wolf Talk who brought in his live Wolf and many other Wolf artifacts to teach the boys all about how wolves live in the wild. We were amazed at how well the boys behaved. We can’t forget to congratulate the following scouts on recent achievements …
- Brandon and Kenton earned their 50 miles hiking sticks
- Lucas, Carter and Riley earned their Recruiter patches for bring new boys into the pack.
The Popcorn blitz was a success. We had a great turn out and beat what we raised at last year’s blitz! Such an awesome start to the fundraiser! Each boy that participated has earned 1 mile towards their hiking awards.
The Webelos were invited by Troop 106 to campout over a weekend at Rice City Heritage State Park. And the weather was absolutely perfect… 80’s during g the day and 50’s at night. Webelos were taught about how the troop is comprised of patrols, how to contribute to work together to wash dishes, gather firewood and cook… Amongst many things. Especially that Boy Scouts is led by… The boys! We thank Troop 106 for hosting our Webelos for this wonderful weekend.
Last but not least we had our first Pack hike right after the Webelos Campout at Rice City Heritage State Park. This nice 3 mile hike is great to get us warmed up for a year of hiking. It was a little hot, but at least we were under canopy of trees and got to take in the view from lookout rock out to the fall foliage taking shape. Don’t forget to keep track of your son’s hiking miles! Cubmaster Alderton only got lost twice this time so the boys were credited with 4 miles !!!
See you all at the first Stop and Shop Show and Sell this Sunday! Contact your den leaders for your den’s time slot.
