January always means the start of a new year, resolutions soon to be broken, colder weather and the PINEWOOD DERBY! St. James Parish was all abuzz by 10 am while Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and adults prepared for an afternoon of racing. Up for grabs, bragging rights for the next year for the fastest car, slowest car and well as these other categories:
Best paint job | Best Scout Theme | Most Patriotic | Funniest |
Most Attention to Detail | Most Original Design | Fastest Looking | Best Sport Theme |
Most Likely Built by a Scout | Most Resembling a Block of Wood | Best Star Wars Theme |
After the opening flag ceremony the racers were geared up and ready to race!
The competition was fast and furious, sorry not trying to rip off the franchise movies 😉 . Racers, family and friends all watched as the cars tore down the track in 60 heats. In the end the top ten finishers were announced and the top 15 were ready to race again against the Girl Scouts the very next day.
Also in January we had a great turn out for out Musem of Science sleepover – the boy had plenty of time to hang with their friends, visit the Electricity room, Planetarium, IMAX cinema … and sleep in a Museum !!!
