Summer Fun
Pack 106 has been busy this summer. As the service part of our “Beaver Day” we did some maintenance on the Day Camp Beach and raked some fresh sand, the boys also helped smooth out the Day Camp field – about 600 cub scouts will benefit from their hard work this year!!! Our Rocket Day was well attended, the boy had their listening ears on and paid attention during the safety briefing. We had some great launches and some entertaining malfunctions 🙂
Our annual bike ride was a ton of fun – we rode 6 miles on the Blackstone River Bikeway taking in beautiful scenery. The boys were also treated to a display of local fossils by the “Rhode Island Mineral Hunters” – and a demonstration of bike repairs in the field when the Cubmaster mangled his chain 🙁
Mt Monadnock as always was a tiring but rewarding experience – the boys enjoyed the view from the summit … and the ice cream afterwards too.

Pack 106 Volunteers at Community Harvest Project
Our pack recently embarked on a local community service initiative with Community Harvest Project in Grafton, MA. After being introduced to the farm and what it does to help out the less fortunate in the surrounding towns, Scouts, parents and siblings helped plant two additional rows of eggplants. The day was a little dreary at first, but once the sun came up everyone had a smile on their face! Everyone worked well together and we all were an assembly line of farmers.
Pack 106 will return to help harvest the crop, which will be donated to the Worcester County food bank. In addition, we have also adopted a row of corn to help the CHP efforts to provide fresh vegetables to those in need. The scouts learned about their ability to positively impact their community while having a fun time in the field with friends and family.
It was a fun and dirty day and we thank all that participated!
