The boys that braved the cold were rewarded with a fun packed day. Orienteering, Capture the Flag, Sled building and racing, and when the cold finally looked like it might get to some of the boys, a quick lesson on apple baking over a campfire cheered everyone up. A beautiful 14″ pickerel was plucked from the ice of Browning Pond, followed by the “superbowl” obstacle course, tire bowling ( yes there should be a belt loop for this ) and cold-weather-first-aid. Our very own Mr Paquin assumed his alter ego of “Mr Knots” for a session on knots and lashings.
The February hike was a nice gentle 3 mile hike along the Blackstone River from Plummers Landing to the Goat Hill Lock. We almost had the entire trail to ourselves and many of the boys enjoyed a well earned hot chocolate afterwards.
Congratulation to Graham Z. for hiking his 100th mile with the pack – he is only the 6th boy to achieve this and will be awarded a backpack at the Blue and Gold Banquet – a list of the other awards can be found here.
Details of the March Pack hike will be made available shortly.
