We had a great time at the Worcester Sharks sleep-over event last Saturday night. We enjoyed a fun game of hockey (sadly, the Sharks got smoked), and afterwards were bale to get some players autographs. We then watched Despicable Me on the jumbotron before getting in our sleeping bags on the concourse. In the morning we had breakfast and had a tour of the locker-room.

It was tons of fun, and hopefully next year we’ll be able to sleep on the ice too!

On Sunday, March 20th, the Cub Scouts of the Webelos I Den 1 and the Bear Den visited the Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park in Uxbridge for an overview on how they extract Maple sap from the 140 maple trees on the property, and make some neat candies and drinks from it. It was a sunny but chilly day, and all the participants really enjoyed the tour. Some folks even bought “sugaring” materials to use on their own maple trees at home!

We enjoyed our annual ‘Indoor Sports Night’ at Grafton Elementary School on Friday night, March 4th. All the boys participated in some fun games of basketball, and playing catch with frisbees and footballs, before forming into teams and competing in dodge-ball, kick-ball, and a new addition to this year’s event, relay-races!

Not only is this event a good opportunity to get together and have some fun after our long winter, but it’s also important in reinforcing the message (and Cub Scout motto) of “doing your best!” Everyone got a chance to kick and run, and while not every boy was on the winning side, team-work and having fun were emphasized.
